Liam Hartley - (Goalkeeper) - Age 36
“Shaka”is currently in his 5th season with Dromara and has been a great servant to the club helping gain promotion from 1B to 1A in his 1st season and then helping secure promotion to the premier league. At his best Liam commands his area very well and is also very vocalL. Liam’s previous clubs include Cliftonville (5 times) he just wouldn’t go away, Crusaders, Carrick Rgs , Chimney Corner and Dromara. He has also won a Steel & sons cup medal and represented the NAFL on 3 occasions. Shaka said he wouldn’t play in today’s final if we didn’t mention he was Man of The Man in the 2008 Rose bowl Representative game. There you go Liam
Dylan Cobb - (Defender) - Age 19
“The apprentice” is the baby of the squad. He previously had spells with Linfield and Glenavon before returning to Dromara. Dylan is a young lad with a great attitude and is a great trainer. He has found it difficult to break into the 1st team but has remained patient and has the potential to be a big player for the club in future season. Dylan represented the NAFL under 19’s in 2008 and 2009.
Declan O’Connor – (forward) – Age – 23
“Didsy” was signed from Ford in 2007 and has proved to be a fantastic signing for the Village. Declan scored 34 goals in his 1st season and also scored the winning goal for the NAFL in the Rose bowl to finish off a great 1st season. He was plagued with injuries last season but is now producing the form that attracted a lot of interest from Irish league clubs. His pace frightens the life out of defenders in the amateur league and he possesses a powerful shot on top of having a great work rate. He has scored 13 goals to date this season and is a potential match winner. Declan’s previous clubs are Donegal Celtic and Ford where he won the 2B Amateur league and the Cochrane and corry cup.
Ciaran Doherty - (Defender) – Age 36
“Doc” another player signed from Ford in 2007. People said Doc was finished but the Gaffer has given him a new lease of life over the past 2 1/2 seasons. Doc has been excellent this season operating at either centre-half or left back. He is strong in the tackle and as equally effective in the air. He is deceivingly quick and the Gaffer tells us he is the quickest player at the club over 10 yards. Doc is also a great character in the dressing room and his Previous clubs include Crumlin Utd, Cliftonville, Larne and Ford where he was part of the team that won two 2A leagues and a Cochrane and Corry cup.
Brendan MacNamee - (Defender/Midfielder) – Age 33
Joined the Village in the summer and was a welcomed signing, as the club had previously tried to sign him on a number of occasions over the past 2 seasons. Brendan is a versatile player who can play Centre midfield, centre back or right back and is a winner through and through. He has a wealth of experience and has a B-division winner’s medal with Chimney Corner as well as being an intermediate cup winner. His previous clubs include Cliftonville, Donegal Celtic, Chimney Corner and Ford.
John Douglas - (Midfield) – Age 32
“Dougie” a very skilful and creative player who can operate in midfield or as striker. He is also very dangerous at set-pieces but we won’t mention his work rate. Another great character in the changing room and has his own book on excuses to miss training. John was previously with Glasgow Rangers, Linfield, Crusaders, Bangor and Glenavon. He just is lacking in a bit of confidence on the pitch.
Manus O’Gorman – (Defender) – Age 25
Manus signed from Santos at the beginning of last season and immediately made the right back position his own. He has a great attitude towards training. Manus is very comfortable on the ball and also likes to get forward at every opportunity. Also can play at centre-back or midfield. Santos is his only previous club.
Ryan Carson - (Midfield) – Age 27
“Sicknote” Ryan has been very unfortunate with injury and no more so when he got injured in the warm-up of the semi-final verse Albert Foundry. Has had limited appearances to date this season but when fully fit Carsey is a very important player . He is a powerful player with loads of pace and chips in with his share of goals. Also an excellent man marker. Previously with Glentotan Colts and Glenavon Reserves Ryan is now one of the longest serving players at Dromara.
Graham McDonagh - (Midfield) – Age 33
“5054” is the driving force of the Dromara midfield. Graham is a tough tackling midfield and also has a great engine to get from box-to-box. His finishing wouldn’t be his greatest asset and the boys make him well aware of it. He is another big character in the changing room and was previously with Cliftonville , Chimney Corner , Brantwood and Moyola park before signing for Dromara 5 seasons ago when he played a major part in helping the club gain promotion from 1B to 1A and then into the Premier.
James McDonagh – (Defender) – Age 35 (Club Captain)
Dromara’s influential Captain was MOM in both the quarter final and semi final games of this year’s border cup but unfortunately broke his hand in the semi-final game leaving him a major doubt for the final. James is superb in the air and as equally good on the ground. At his best he is one of the best defenders in the amateur league. Previously James was with Cliftonville, Lisburn Distillery, Larne, Glenavon & Ards before following his brother to Dromara fc in 2007. He has an Irish league winner’s medal which he won while at Cliftonville as well as picking up an Irish league 1st division and Ulster cup medal with Distillery.
Johnny Jess - (Midfield/forward) Age 26
Johnny was signed at the beginning of last season from Derriaghy CC. He is a versatile player who can play anywhere in the midfield or as striker. A strong player with a fantastic work rate and knows how to find the back of the net. “Jesser “is a regular winner of the yellow jersey prize given for the worst performance in training matches. He is the only member of the squad who has previously won a Border cup medal while playing for Knockbreda parish. Johnny also has spells with Barn Utd , Loughgall and Larne,
Mark Drake - (Defender) Age 24
Mark is Dromara through and through and made his 1st team debut at the age of 16. He has been with the club since the age of 11 and winning the Border Cup would mean more to Mark than any other player in the squad. “Draker” is a great defender with a great determination to win. A very brave player with a lot of pace and reads the game well. Can play any position across the back. Dromara has been his only club.
Aaron Thompson – (Forward) Age 21
“The Fox in the box”. Aaron signed for Donegal Celtic at the beginning of last season and scored 10 goals in his 1st 10 games for the Village. Of late Aaron has been in and out of the team but he is a player who only needs half a chance and is an added danger for any opposing team when he comes on from the bench. Previously with Donegal Celtic were he was a Reserve league winner and also won the U18 Irish Cup.
Paul Johnston, Defender - Age 28
"Johnty" is the quiet man in the squad. SORRY is his favourite word. Paul has been outstanding for Dromara since signing from Lower Maze 3 seasons ago. A very consistent full back who loves to get forward at every opportunity. He was previously with East down and Crumlin Utd.
