First Team

Saturday 4th of Febuary League

Malacians 1-4 Dromara Village

Dromara first team travelled to inform Malachians at the shore road venue on Saturday and came away with an excellent four goals to one win.In truth in the first period they created alot of chances and should heve been more than two goals to the good at the interval. They took the lead after only three minutes when Oconnors flick on was headed home by Aaron Thompson.Oconnor who is getting back to his best with more games could have added to the scoreline on several occasions being denied by the keeper and just missing the target. He did get on the scoresheet when another ball played in was headed home by the big striker. Two nil at the break and the defence playing its part and with keeper Gordon marshalling his back four well hopes were high for the second half. They scored again which was the vital third goal when a corner was headed home by Thompson. The home side did get a glimmer of hope late on when they reduced the deficit but with minutes to go some clever play by Ogorman seen him outwit two defenders and fired over a great ball for McIlmurray to shoot home at the back post.A good team performance which is now building confidence in the side for the last ten matches in the run in.

Second Team

Saturday 4th of Febuary   League

Dromara Village 2nds 6-1 Bangor Rangers 2nds

This was a big game in the title race for the three c title with the bangor side the only team to have beaten the dromara side in the league this season. The visitors started the brighter and they were playng the ball about with confidence and a determined approach to take the game to the home side.Dromara though were defending well and the away side did not really threaten the home goal but any time the home side went forward the pace of Collins McConnell and Stevie Neill were a massive threat. The home side took the lead with a great move with a few passes and a ball into McConnell who played a sublime pass into the feet on the right of Stevie Neill whos cross was hammered home by Collins for his nineteenth of the season. This was a major boost for the home side and another great move saw Collins return the favour but Neils shot was blocked by the keeper. Then to the Bangors side dismay their centre forward who was a clever player got a straight red for a kick out at Carmichael which he admitted was a stupid rush of blood to the head.Dromara capitilised on this and scored another excellent goal when Collins played a great through ball for Stevie Neil to take in his stride and place his shot in the bottom corner from the edge of the box. This was the moment when the away side knew it was not going to be their day and just before half time Collins played in McConnell to finish with ease to go into the break three goals to the good. The second half saw the visitors to their credit still keep going and they played some neat and tidy football but did not really threaten the home goal as again Colin Kerr and Phil Neil in the heart of the defence were not giving anything away. They then went four up when another good move saw Carsons shot deflected into the net for a deserved goal as he put in another immense performance in the centre of midfield. This gave manager Gormley then the opportunity to gave some match time to his subs and Devlin Mitchell and Magennis came on for Collins Stevie Neil and Hughes to freshen things up again. The away side pulled a goal back when they were awarded a penalty when Kerr was adjudged to have tripped the left sided player for the Bangor side. But soon after Devlin at the other end cut inside and his cross was handled and Carmichael stepped up to fire home the spot kick.Other opportunities came and Magennis burst through but his shot was well saved by the keeper, just before the end McConnell who was moved up front and was causing all sorts of problems with his pace could have added to his tally on several occasions but did eventually make it six with a great individual goal which was deserved for his great performance.
